The Zookeeper’s Sleepers

Written by Frank B. Edwards
Illustrated by John Bianchi

A noisy old owl is keeping all the animals in the zoo awake so one-by-one they go to see the zookeeper for advice. She gives each of them a book and sends them on their way hoping to start her own bedtime story at the end of her very long day. But a late knock at her door reminds her that the animals don’t know how to read so she invites them all into her bed to share a story.

” We are awake. We cannot sleep.

Take these books and read a bedtime story.”

By story’s end, the zookeeper’s bedroom is overflowing with sleeping animals. Not surprisingly with so many companions, now she can’t get to sleep.
